In the early 2000’s I began tinkering with the idea of making my own soft plastic baits. I started out with lee pots and silicone molds. The one thing I noticed after making the baits was the fact that they had a somewhat strong plastic smell. I wondered if that was a deterrent to the fish biting in some way. Then, I pondered is there a way to mask that smell.
Thus, my journey of Upper Hand Scents began. I started ordering fish oils, anise oil and some other oils. Then I began my quest to concoct recipes. I would bake them into the hot plastic and adjust concentration levels based on whether it needed more or less. I remember posting on some forums back then that I made custom scents for adding to hot plastic and for bagging purposes. The inquiries started coming in and I was off and running.
I have learned a lot of things about the role scents play in the fishing industry. I believe they can make a difference between a below average/average day and an excellent day of fishing. Countless friendships were also built over the years. I still maintain clients from the early days of beginning this venture. I take pride in the product that is made and labeled Upper Hand Scents. I appreciate getting e-mails or phone calls from people telling me success stories, or how they can’t believe how strong the scents are. I still laugh at some of the messages, where some of the guys had wives complain of the smell in the basement.
I sincerely appreciate the customers I have and hope that if your here visiting, that you’ll give us a try.
